Dreamstate Project
This project is about the search for wellbeing within a dream state of mind. Falling asleep is a sacred task for virtually all living
creatures. This task relies solely on the individual and the individual's mind; no one can force someone to fall asleep completely. When proper sleep is not acquired the mind can find it hard to function properly; delirium can set in and the boundaries between reality and daydreams can become blurred. Through my personal struggles with a lack of sleep, time passes by at a speed which I can't fully comprehend. Days smear together in my mind and confusion starts to set in. I tend to drive or walk around late at night to escape the entrapment of my mind and attempt to search for the sleepiness I am desperate to find. Techniques I used to portray this feeling were long exposures, the use and lack of color, and the interaction between the sleepwalker and his surroundings. I want to depict sleepwalking through life and living within a dream. Specific details are hard to remember yet the emotional experience continues to live in the back of the mind.
